About Laura
Like you, I am an animal lover! I am in my mid 30s and grew up on the west coast of France with a goldfish and pet rats.
Nowadays you can find me in Cork county, whether it’s at home in Cork city, at my garden allotment or somewhere on a walk… in a park, a forest or on the beach (and usually with canine company!).

Experience
I have cared for a wide variety of pets, from fancy Persians to muddy cattle dogs, a unique African grey parrot or a puzzling chameleon!
I am also at ease with horses, rodents, chickens, ducks and cows just to name a few.
I am always curious to look after a new species and will ensure to educate myself ahead of any services with your animal.
It’s called Laura Cares because I really care about animals!
Volunteer
I’ve started volunteering in my teens with my local animal shelter, walking dogs and cleaning kennels. Later in my 20s, I continued getting involved in animal charities and I was able to foster rescued cats and dogs.
Homesits
Prior to Laura Cares, I did multiple petsits/homesits through platforms like HelpX (from 2016) and TrustedHouseSitters (from 2024).
Each stay would mean different animals, care instructions and personalities!
Dog walking
I’ve trained and worked with a professional dog walker in Auckland, NZ (Tails and trails) between 2016-2019.
I have been dog walking for multiple happy clients in and around Cork city since January 2026.
Creating Laura Cares
After many years in the same company, a burn-out and a lot of questioning, I’ve decided to create Laura Cares in January 2026!
This shift to focus on animal care was part of my own self-care: I find I am at my happiest when around animals and close to nature.
